Happy New Year everyone! I wish you a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2014. I hope everyone enjoyed our holiday break and the snow! January will be a busy month at school. We will be taking our winter Dibels test for fluency and our winter MAP tests in reading, math, and language. The MAP test is a measure of academic progress. Parent /Teacher conferences are on January 28th and February 6th. The second quarter ends on January 17th. Report Cards will be posted online the following week. The Flying Pig kick -off Assembly will be next week to give the students their mile logs. The PTA has sponsored a trip to the Art Museum for fourth grade. It is on Wednesday, January 15th. I have 2-3 chaperones but could use 1-2 more if you are interested. Academically, we are beginning Chapter 5 in Go Math! It is about factors, multiples, and patterns in numbers. We will continue Unit 3 in Reading Street (patterns in nature) by reading a myth, a tall tale, and about hurricanes. We will not finish the unit until February. Mr. MacFarland will complete his science unit with the class before the quarter ends. After that we will continue Social Studies with Chapter 6 about the growing state of Ohio. That's all for now!
